Feature gating controls which Configly features are available on your plan. This page covers what each plan includes, what read-only mode means, and what happens when you hit a limit.

PDF report formats
A health check report downloads as a PDF in one of three formats, and your plan decides which of them you can pick from the format selector.
- Solo gives you the cover, executive summary, category scores and the findings list.
- Multi-Instance adds an instance overview, your score trend over time, a comparison against your previous check, and a methodology and glossary section.
- Agency adds deep-dive analysis, compliance and industry sections, SLA correlation, an appendix, and your own branding in place of Configly's.
A trial can download the Multi-Instance format as well as the Solo one. Solo Admin covers the Solo format.
Snapshot history
Configly retains your snapshots. On the Free plan the ten most recent versions per connection are visible and older ones are hidden rather than deleted, and they return if you upgrade. On every other plan your snapshot versions stay visible.
Read-only mode
Your account becomes read-only when:
- A payment fails and the subscription lapses after Stripe has exhausted its retries
- You cancel and the billing period ends
- A Free or Trial account goes six months without anyone signing in
A trial reaching its end no longer causes read-only mode. It moves the account to the Free plan instead, which is a working plan rather than a locked one. See What happens when your trial expires.
What you can do in read-only mode
- View existing snapshots, diffs, health check results and configuration data
- Search across existing configuration objects
- Open and read What-If simulations you created earlier
- Export or download anything you need
What you cannot do in read-only mode
- Run a new sync
- Create or modify connections
- Run a new health check
- Create, edit or delete a What-If simulation
- Apply changes to Zendesk
Read-only banner
A banner appears at the top of every page explaining why access is restricted, with a link to the billing page.
Banners you may see
During an active trial, a banner shows how many days remain and becomes more prominent as the end date approaches. Go to Settings, then Billing, to upgrade at any point.
If a payment has failed but the subscription has not yet lapsed, a yellow warning banner appears across the top of the app. The account stays fully functional during this period, which runs for around three weeks of Stripe retries. Follow the link in the banner to update your payment method.
Upgrade prompts
Trying to use a feature your plan does not include shows a prompt in place of the feature, naming the plans that do include it and linking to the billing page. Attempting to apply changes to Zendesk on the Free plan is the most common example.
Hitting the instance limit
Each plan has an instance ceiling: one on Free, two on Trial, one on Solo Admin, five on Multi-Instance, and no practical limit on Agency Toolkit. Connecting another instance when you are at the limit shows an upgrade prompt.
If your plan changes and leaves you over the ceiling, the surplus connections are locked. Configly keeps the ones you connected earliest, up to your plan's limit, and locks the rest.
A locked instance stays in your connections list but cannot be opened, synced or used. A banner above the list shows how many are locked and links to the billing page. This is the situation a trial with two instances lands in when it moves to Free, which allows one.
Locking never deletes anything. The connection, its snapshots and its history all stay exactly as they were, and unlock again the moment there is room for them.
To make room, move to a plan that covers the number of instances you have and every locked connection unlocks. If you would rather stay on your current plan, disconnecting an instance you no longer need frees a slot and unlocks the next one in line. Configly never disconnects anything on your behalf.
Roles and permissions
Plan entitlements and workspace roles are separate controls, and both apply. A Member cannot apply changes to Zendesk whatever the plan, and nobody on the Free plan can, whatever their role. See Configly workspaces: members and roles.
